Saturday 9: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?

Saturday 9: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?
1. Have you ever been in a situation with a lover where you did not know what tomorrow would bring?  Ummm...yea, it was a long, long time ago and I'd rather not talk about it....

2. What worries you most today?  Finances...

3. Could I tell if you were lying to me?  Probably not....but I don't usually lie.  I'm not clever enough to remember what I've told who...

4. What do you miss most about the 80s?  I started the 80's in college (Winthrop '84) so those were the BEST days!  I miss those days when I did what I wanted to do, when I wanted to do, and having very little responsibility...

5. What's going on that you can't understand?  Procrastination on the part of others....

6. How would I know if you liked me?  It is difficult to read me....you may have trouble...but I like just about everyone.

7. If you ever won an award, what would you want it to be for?  Parenthood

8. What would we be surprised to know that you've done?  Honestly, I cannot think of any real surprising revelations to speak of....I'll get back to you on this question...

9. What’s the most exotic mixed drink you remember trying? Did you enjoy it?  Again, many years ago, group of us played "golf" in Columbia, and we enjoyed a pitcher in many different "clubs"...trying to make it through at least "9 holes"...I remember Electric Lemonade and Long Island Iced Tea and....

Filll in the Blank Friday

1.   I am looking forward to       the rest of high school softball season, a longer summer vacation from school, and our trip to the beach about as soon as we get out of school.

2.  Something kind of embarrassing that I still love anyway is/are    things that once belonged to my mama, and I imagine them still having her "touch" on them.  I love to hold things that I know that she held....it is kind of like touching her again....

4.  If I could pick one type of weather to live with for the rest of my life it would be    right here in SC....the summers are sunny and warm and the winters are not too cold.  The springs and falls are perfect also!! .

5.  My favorite thing to do after a bad/stressful day is     go to the salon and tan....those few minutes of peace and quiet, warmth and light always make me feel better.

6.  This weekend       I will be cheering on my girls at their softball game!  Go Lady Dawgs!!

7.  If I were a color, I'd be       green      because,       it is my favorite; it's the color of nature; it is a calming color; I just love all shades and hues of it!!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Welcome to another edition of
Miscellany Monday....
(one of my fav memes)

{one}
What a glorious Easter day we had yesterday!  Praise God that he stone was rolled back and our Savior, Jesus Christ, is alive!

{two}
I am very happy with the way our Easter pics turned out this year.  They are so colorful...and everyone cooperated!  We usually end up with at least one with arms crossed and a lip poked out by the end of the session....

{three}
This is the first official day of spring break.  There are lots of projects that I'd like to work on, but right now, my body, mind, and spirit are saying, "Let's rest a while...."

{four}
Lawren took a notion yesterday to make Puppy Chow.  She said that she'd had it on her mind for a while and decided to run to the store and pick up the ingredients.  The end product of her effort was DELICIOUS!!
(Go "here" for a link to the recipe she used...)

{five}
We have a big softball week in the making....
The girls have practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then the first play-off game is Thursday evening at 6:00 against Hilton Head.  They will also play on Saturday, but as of yet, we don't know the opponent.  Everybody wish the Lady Dawgs good luck....their team is certainly made up of state championship-quality athletes!

Be sure to go link up with Carissa....I did!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter
Happy Spring
Happy, Happy
Everything!

We've had a wonderful Easter day.
FUMC had a beautiful worship service...

Then our family had Easter dinner together.
Afterwards, Lawren, Chuck and I napped, and Charles, MJ, and Josh played golf.

We all gathered at Pam's house at 6:00 for supper and an egg hunt for the kids....

And, once again, my very favorite Easter song....
What a glorious day....
The stone has been rolled back and my
Savior and Lord has
RISEN!
Happy Easter!

What's in a Name??

How did you parents decide on your name?
Strangely enough, I was named for my uncle and my great-uncle.  My first name is Jo (that's all....just Jo) after my great-uncle Josiah Evans, and my middle name is DeWitt after my mama's brother, William DeWitt Evans.  Mama once told me that my daddy wanted to name me Mary, but she told him no because his first two wives were named Mary....LOL :)

Do your initials (first/middle/last) spell anything funny?
No...my initials went from JDD to JDB.
Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you drop your middle name and take your maidenname as your middle name?  (Or if unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
I dropped my middle name from childhood.....although I preserved my middle name by giving it to my daughter...

Are you or will you name your children systematically (ie, same first letter, same origin, etc?)
No, I didn't, but I did give them all family names.

Did you decide on names as a little girl?  Did you stick to them or change your mind?
When I was younger, I had decided that my daughter would be "Hillary Bobbett."  Thankfully I changed my mind on that one.... I don't remember if I had a boy's name or not....I guess not...
Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
My granddaddy, daddy, brother, nephew, and great-nephew have the same name, Lawrence Jefferson Davis, Sr., Jr., III, IV, and V!!  My husband was named for his daddy, and our son is named after both of them, Charles Ernest Black, III.  Mostly everyone in our family is named after someone, a passed down name through the generations....

Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
I picked names based on the name itself and who it is in memory or in honor of.....

Do you name pet names with human names or dog names?
Our dogs are Spanky, Lemon, Ricky Bobby, and Pippi....none of which would be names that I'd choose for my children.  I've had dogs with human names before, like Jim, Kane, Sam, Pete, Martha, Marty, and Bill.

Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience or someone you once knew?
I don't like the name "Herman"....don't ask me why, but I just don't think I'd ever want to know someone with that name....

What are some of your favorite names and why?
I really love our childrens' names.  I think that all three childrens' names suit their personality perfectly.  I have a lot of other names I like too though....we could have easily had 10 more children and I would have had no trouble naming them.....
Here are a few of my favorites.....
William Hardin
Frances Davis
Carol Anne
John David
 Harriet Hodges
 Franklin Thomas
 James Aiden
 Robert Cooper
Chandler Witherspoon
 Alexina Evans

Saturday 9: Sex as a Weapon

Saturday 9: Sex as a Weapon
1. Have you or a significant other ever used sex as a weapon?  Probably...against each other that is...holding out to get what they want...LOL

2. Tell us about the worst date you ever went on.  Worst ever was when I was in college and a guy and I went over to his friends' house to play cards....his friends were druggies and I freaked out!  I'd never been around such and was scared to death!!

3. If you were a god/goddess who would you be?  I would be the goddess of energy and effort!  Is there such a goddess??

4. What crime from history fascinates you the most?  I've passed through fascinations with Ted Bundy, BTK, and Jack the Ripper....not obsessed with any though...

5. Give us one random, but candid fact about you.  I'm a huge Wizard of Oz fan and can recite practically the entire movie....

6. Who or what makes you laugh until you're weak?  Silly things that MJ usually says make me laugh....

7. What is the most exciting adventure you’ve ever been part of?  Years ago, my sister and I drove cross country, from Charlotte, NC, to Berkeley, CA.  We took our time and and stopped in El Paso along the way.  It took us 5 days and was the trip of a lifetime!

8. Among the people you know, who would you choose to be able to read all your thoughts?  NO ONE!!

9. How old were you when you realized that other people's families live totally differently from yours?  I was probably 15 or so....

What I'm Loving Wednesday

One of my favorites....
What I'm Loving Wednesday!
Go link up with Jamie and join us.
(This week has been much better than last...thankfully!)
I'm loving that the varsity softball team won the region championship!
Go Lady DAWGS!  Playoff action begins next Thursday...
I'm loving that after unnecessarily fretting, I discovered that I had already made our beach reservations for the SCFA convention in June....I made them last July and had totally forgotten!  YAY me!!
I'm loving that I am finished with Water for Elephants, by Sara Gruen, and cannot wait for the movie to be released this Friday, April 22.  If you've not read this novel, pick it up...it's fun and vivid, yet very emotional....and an easy read.
I'm loving that we only have ONE MORE DAY until spring break...
"I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..."
I'm loving that Easter is right around the corner.  My whole Christian faith is based on the fact that Jesus was crucified and died on the cross to save all of us, though we are unworthy and undeserving.  Then my Savior arose from the dead and ascended into heaven to prepare a place for us.  Praise, glory, and honor to our precious Lord!  Happy Easter everyone!
And, of course, I'm loving my sweet husband and my three wild and woolly teenagers...
These four complete me!

Miscellany Monday and Weekend Recap

Once again it is time to link up with Carissa for
MISCELLANY MONDAY...

I know it is Tuesday, but I am just getting around to getting my thoughts together about the weekend and yesterday.....please bear with me....thanx!

Nothing could be sweeter than handing Hartsville their second loss to the Bulldogs!  Marlboro led the entire match-up and crushed the Red Foxes with a final of 4 - 1.  The Hartsville parents and fans were so sure that their girls were thirsty for revenge and they had this game....but they were disappointed...
GO LADY DAWGS!!
Saturday morning started very early!  We got up at 5 AM to go to Columbia for the state FFA tractor driving competition.  Charles, along with four others, drove for the Marlboro team.  Charles had a slip-up and didn't follow the correct course and he was disqualified.  I guess he was too excited or nervous....but that's OK.  We had fun!

After the competition, we drove over to Columbia College to see Deanna play softball.  The stormy weather cleared up long enough for the Koalas to play, but sadly, we didn't get to see Dee play.  The coach didn't put her in until the last inning of the second game.

Sunday was a relaxing day.  We went to Sunday school and church, had lunch, and then napped all afternoon.  The girls had sb practice and Charles worked at the CCC, but Chuck and I obviously needed rest....

Monday was a regular school day for all five of us.  There were a lot of teachers absent from school so Mrs. Suggs had to cover a class and I was alone in our class.  I sure miss her when she's not in class.  After school, Chuck, Josh, and I left for Camden.  The varsity girls played against the Camden Bulldogs and were victorious with a final of 21 to 0....it wasn't even a game!

Today is beautiful!  The weather is warm and sunny and promises to be a perfect spring day.  Charles has his last home golf match this afternoon in Clio.  Hopefully I'll be able to make at least part of it after the SIC meeting here at MCHS.

I'm sure that my ramblings are not typical of other bloggers Miscellany Monday posts, but my life is consumed with my husband, children, church, and school.  I just write about what I live, what I know, and what I love.

Happy Monday and Tuesday Y'all!!
