Saturday 9: I'm Not in Love

1. Have you ever been in love but tried to deny it?  No, not at all....
2. Someone throws a party in your honor. The only guests are your past lovers. You're current spouse or significant other is cool with this. They ask you to speak and say something good about those assembled. Would there be someone there you could not say something good about?  Yes, and there are some that I could probably not say anything at all about....time passes and memory fails....
3. How long can you go without your cell phone? Do you own a so-called “smart phone”?  I could go forever without my cell phone...and no, I don't have a "smart-phone."
4. Do you believe everyone deserves a second chance?  Yes, everyone deserves a second chance, but sometimes I have a hard time giving people that second chance....needless to say, I've been burned once or twice....
5. Would you rather spend a whole day with your mom or your dad? (If either or both have passed, answer as if they're alive.)  I love to spend a whole day with my daddy.  He died when I was only 4, so I'd love the opportunity to get to know him and be a "daddy's girl" for a day...
6. Tell us one thing about your first boyfriend or girlfriend.  He had very nice black hair, that's all I'll say....
7. Has an ex ever written something about you on facebook or their blog that was nasty about you?  No, thank goodness

8. What was the last thing you borrowed and never returned?  Hair clippers....

9. Who is someone famous that you've met?  IDK if I've ever met anyone famous.  When I was young, I met Strom Thurmond, but he was just a state politician then....

Miscellany Monday/Weekend Recap

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

[one]
My girls and I (well, everyone in Raleigh, for that matter) experienced the hottest weather that I can remember this past weekend.  The Carolina Cyclones played in a showcase tournament and the heat was UNBEARABLE.  At one point, my car thermometer registered 107 degrees!  The team finished 2-2-1 for the weekend, but considering the temps, they did remarkably well.  We fans were drenched and we were just sitting under a tent watching!  Way to go Cyclones!  We are proud of you all!
[two]
While in Raleigh I ran over a key and had a flat tire.  The guys at Pep Boys could not patch the tire so I ended up having to buy a new tire.  Thank goodness for the coaches and the other Cyclone guys who helped me out.
[three]
I took Lawren and Mary Jo to visit Aunt Mary while in the Raleigh area.  She is a resident at Wellington Place in Knightdale, NC.  Aunt Mary is my daddy's only remaining sibling, and my only aunt.  She has always been one of my favorite family members.  I'm so glad that L and MJ had a chance to see her and get to visit with her since they are now older and will have memory of her.
Go over to Carissa's page and link up....I did....

Saturday 9: White Wedding

1. Tell us about the most recent wedding you attended.
The last weeding I attended was my beautiful niece's wedding at a Southern plantation.  It was fabulous in every way!

2. Do you enjoy attending weddings, or do they bore you to tears?   I actually enjoy them....I'm not crazy about receptions though...

3. Does marriage in general make you feel confident and good inside, or skeptical?  I guess it makes me feel confident and good inside....never really thought about it until now....

4. Do you have a photo blog? (If so, feel free to share the link with us.)   I don't have a photo blog, but i often include photos in my blogs.

5. Do you find yourself driving less due to the high gas prices?  No, not really.  There is no public transportation in our small rural area, so we have to drive everywhere we need to go.

6. What's the high temperature today where you are? The temp on my car thermometer went up to 106.

7. "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." Agree, or no?  Agree....I live in the deep South and the humidity is a killer!

8. What's the hottest you've ever been in your life?  Probably today sitting at the softball field in Raleigh.....

9. Non-temperature related last question: In your opinion... who's hot?  Billy Bob Thornton!

Surprise Bedroom Make-Over

When Lawren and Mary Jo were in California for three weeks, I decided to do a
"While You Were Out" make-over in their bedroom.....

There was absolutely NO WAY that I would have taken pictures of the "before" condition of their room.....the health dept. would have immediately come in and shut us down :) !!
Take a look at the after pictures below.

Mary Jo's side of the room.  I purchased dry-erase, magnetized boards to hang their drawings on.  I also had to find a replacement "J" for her monogram....it was tough, but finally we located a "U" and Larry trimmed it up for us...
Lawren's bed, monogram, board, and SF pictures.
This is Lawren's dresser.  They used to share it when they were little and all of their clothes would easily fit into the drawers.  I also got the fabric from Hobby Lobby and made a valance for their window.  The cloth had all of the colors of their new comforters.
Mary Jo's dresser, complete with new drawer pulls.  I painted it white (it was hot pink) and also spray painted her bed white too!

After so many years playing softball, soccer, basketball, and volleyball, the girls' bedroom was overrun with trophies.  Most are contained on a shelf above their closet, but the ones that are too tall are housed on the shelf that runs along the front wall with the shuttered windows.
I also had to find a storage place for all of their sports and academic award ribbons.  A pewter 3M Command hook proved to be ideal!
The room is equally divided so that each girl has her own space.

Lawren had been begging for years for a desk for her room.  This desk is a matching piece to the dresser, both part of the bedroom suit that my mama bought me when I was
six years old.

The girls were pleasantly surprised and pleased with the make-over in their room.  They've not even complained too much about all of the cleaning, donating, and purging that I did while they were gone.

It was a pleasure to complete this project, all on my own, for my girls....
I just love them so much!!!
