Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

It has been quite a while since I last
 linked up with Carissa for
M I S C E L L A N Y    M O N D A Y.
We'll see how it goes....

[one]
It's day five of Lawren and Mary Jo's three-week adventure in California.  They miss home, and I miss them, but this is a trip of a lifetime for two 15-year-olds!

[two]
I'm not a Gamecock fan, but I hope that they can pull out a win in tonight's game.
[three]
I have so many things on my to-do list (not really a list because I haven't written anything down) that I want to accomplish over this summer break.  I worked a little in the laundry room last week but still have lots more to go in there.  It was a wreck!  I'd like to paint the kitchen cabinets, my bedroom, the hallway, and maybe other rooms too.  I guess I'll work on all of these projects a little at a time.

[four]
Work continues on the exterior of the house and the roof.  It's looking so good!  Pictures will be posted when construction is completed.

[five]
Florida just made two throwing errors and USC scored a run in the 11th inning
to score a run.  It's 2 - 1.....Go Cocks!

[six]
Charles is an only child while the girls are away, and he's not even taking advantage of it. He gets up early, goes to work at the CCC, and comes home late, showers and goes to bed.  I hardly ever see him.  I guess he's growing up and doesn't have much time for his old mama....

[seven]
The weather here is so hot during the day.  The high today was 99 degrees but the heat index was a lot higher....typical SC summer.  I'm glad I like hot weather.

Go by Carissa's page and link up....before it's Tuesday.... :)

Today I am linking up with Java over at Never Growing Old for the 50th edition of Meet Me on Monday!!

2. What color scheme is your bedroom?  Green....but I'm thinking about painting it red when I finish the Dresden plate quilt that I've started....
3. Do you carry a donor card?  Yes, of course....that's the right thing to do..

4. In your opinion, is the glass half empty or half full?  Half full....I try to be optomistic and look for the good in everything....
5. Vanilla or Chocolate?  Chocolate please and thank you... :)

California Trip Continues 6-22 thru 6-26-11

Lawren and Mary Jo's San Francisco adventure continues.  They are experiencing things that will remain with them forever.  It is so hard to believe that they've only been gone for about a week and have seen and done so much.  Below are pictures that Chandler and Gary have sent or pics that they've sent themselves....

Silly California girls.... :)

I really miss the girls, but am so happy for them.  They are homesick too, and I keep sending messages of encouragement.  They will make it until the end of three weeks, and hopefully I will too!

California Trip Begins

The girls are in California!
Lawren and MJ, on arrival in SF
Chuck and I took them to Douglas International this morning, and they flew out at 9:40 AM.

It was hard to leave the airport, knowing that it would be three weeks before I see them again, but this is such a great opportunity for them.  I'd been telling them for years that they could go when they got a little older, and I kept my word....fifteen is a great age to go away from home, experience new places and see new things....
Golden Gate Bridge
Spread your wings.....
Have a wonderful vacation in California!
Lawren and MJ at the Cliff House
Soak up all that this world has to offer.....
Take in all in, cherish, and fully experience these days
because you'll never be the same again.
We will miss you and you'll probably miss us too.
Have fun, be safe, and enjoy your trip!
I love you!

Day Zero Project - Winthrop

104.  Visit Winthrop

Lawren and Mary Jo played in  the NSA Summer Stars Showcase Tournament the weekend of June 18-19, 2011, in Rock Hill, SC.  While there, I had the opportunity to visit my college Alma mater, Winthrop College/University.  It has been years since I've been on campus.  A lot was still the same, but there were a lot of changes too.

Here are a few pictures (taken with my phone) of my visit.

Flags and banners on Oakland Avenue

Now the sign says Winthrop University, but
back then, it said Winthrop College....

Margaret Nance...dorm where I lived my freshman
and sophomore years

Fountain outside of Margaret Nance....

Bancroft....dorm where I lived
as a junior

Withers

Withers....the building where all of the
education classes were held

Back view of Withers...

Info. on the Eagle statue

This Eagle statue is awesome....
this is the first time I'd seen it!

I wouldn't trade my 4 years at
Winthrop for anything in the
world.....those were some of
the best years of my life!!
