My Happy List

Photobucket
I love linking up with Mamarazzi and tell everyone what I'm happy about...

I'm happy...
because yesterday was my sweet, hard-working husband's birthday.  He's now 3 years older than I am....for the next 3 days anyway!
Lawren put the candles on Chuck's pineapple upside down cake...
V2 for 52!!  LOL

I'm happy...
that I was able to prepare Low Country Boil (Frogmore Stew) for him and his mama, sister, and niece.  We all had a good time celebrating together.
I'm happy...
to begin my second "Giving Thanks Challenge" hosted by Leah over at South Breeze Farm.
http://southbreezefarm.blogspot.com/
I'm happy...
because the transmission on the truck was still under warranty and we do not have to park it or pay to have it fixed...

I'm happy...
that one of my students went trick-or-treating last night and brought me a few Tootsie roll minis!  Thanks Jose'!
I'm happy...
because my sweet, sweet niece sent me a Snoopy birthday card, and wrote a touching little note inside.

I'm happy...
that Jesus loves me.

Saturday 9: Someday We'll Be Together

Saturday 9: Someday We'll Be Together

1. Have you ever left a relationship but knew that eventually you'd get back together?  No, when I'm done with a relationship, I'm done!
2. Are there things that you hate to buy? Items that you either hate to spend perfectly good money on or hate to spend the time it takes to buy them?  I hate buying cars!  It stresses me to the MAX!!
3. What is your favorite cartoon show and why?  I've always been a Bugs Bunny fan:)
4. Are you anywhere close to doing what you wanted to do as a kid?  Yep!  I decided in the 3rd grade that I wanted to be a special education teacher, and I've been one for 28 years now!
5. Now that you're in the "real world," is your current job now really what you want to do for a living? If not, what would you ultimately like to do?  Teaching sp. ed. is my calling and my passion....I'm exactly where I am meant to be!
6. A local university has asked you to teach a class about the one thing you know the most about. What would you be teaching and what would the name of the course be?  I'd teach  crafts....and it would be called "Try many and find your niche 101"
7. Commercials ... they can make us laugh or can annoy the heck out of us. Tell us about your favorite commercial and/or a commercial you simple loathe.  I LOVE the State Farm commercial where the guy says, "Ohhhh, I could have had a falcon!"  (I really want a Falcon....a 1961 Ford Falcon, that is....)  I loathe commercials about "male enhancement" and feminine products....  :(
8. Tell us about your favorite comedy movie of all time.  The Jerk, starring Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters....funniest movie of ALL TIMES!!!
9. Tell us about your favorite black and white movie of all time.  The Graduate....Dustin Hoffman falling for Mrs. Robinson....a true classic!

PS:  "Someday We'll Be Together" is one of my all-time favorite songs!  Thanks for choosing it for the Saturday 9!!

1.  I can't stand when someone steals or lies!!!

2.  Do you do daily, weekly or monthly grocery shopping?  I shop for groceries when I need them, and sometimes that's every day!

3.  What kind of car do you drive?  I drive a 2006 Mercury Mariner (when I have the opportunity to drive...the girls drive it mostly!).

4.  Crunchy or soft tacos?  Soft!  Crunchy is not for me!!

5.  What's the habit you are proudest of breaking?  Well I was proud of not biting my fingernails, but in the past few days, I've bitten them all off!  :(  I'm hoping it was just a stress thing and they will grow back out again soon....

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

[one]
Our weekend was great!  I got to sleep late (really late) on Saturday, and then Chuck and I went out for supper.  On Sunday, L and MJ played softball in Hartsville.  When we got home from the tournament, I ran to the grocery store and then cooked baked spaghetti....and it was yummy!  I could definitely get used to laid back weekends like this since we are back into the groove of school and everything that goes along with a busy schedule.

[two]
Speaking of school...so far I'm having fun!  I do have five back-to-back classes, but my largest class has only 10 students.  I can live with that....
[three]
Bath Fitters comes today to redo Chuck's bathroom.  I am super excited for his to be done because that means my bathroom will be reworked next!

[four]
I love to hear the rain fall on our new metal roof.  We had a thunderstorm last night and the sounds of the drops hitting the top of the house was sooo soothing.

[five]
I have a special education meeting at the school district office tomorrow afternoon right after school, so I have to ask Mom Lawren and Mary Jo to let me use my car....hopefully there won't be any cross-eyed glares or pouty lips and I can go to my meeting with my sanity intact...

[six]
I had to have the "blood is thicker than water" talk AGAIN last night.  It seems that MJ's bf and Charles are not getting along because Charles tells the truth about things and some people consider that "snitching."  Well, as I told MJ, Charles is your brother, and your family will be there for you long after others leave....so learn to get along together or we'll curtail activities with those who cannot....
(She says everything is OK now...)

Go link up with Carissa and tell us what you're thinking about on this Monday!

WTF - Friday

Hey y'all!  Happy Friday!
Go "here" and link up to answer these truly twisted questions....

1) If you were forced to live for a year in a shopping mall, a museum, or a zoo, which would you choose and why?  I'd probably choose a museum....at least it would be quiet, cool, and peaceful most of the time...

2) If there was a male version of Victoria's Secret, what would you think it should be called?  It would be called "Victor Wants Trashy Undies Too!"

3) My boyfriend says he wants Weezer's song "Death and Destruction" played at our wedding. What would be a song you'd never expect to hear played at a wedding?  "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off"...of course that might be appropriate for the honeymoon :)

4) If your brain worked like a cell phone and could have applications, what three apps would you most want to be able to run inside your head?  Unlimited memory, GPS capability, and a calculator!

5) You're feeling the desire to act like a kid again and you've been challenged to a "gun" fight. Which do you choose -- a water gun, a Nerf ball gun, or a gun that shoots marshmallows?  As hot as it has been lately, definitely a water gun fight!

6) What is your opinion of pet cemeteries?  Creepy....just dig a hole in a corner of the back yard and plant your dead pet....they are biodegradable and will make the grass grow greener!

7) I woke up to discover that my new puppy had climbed into my laundry basket full of clean clothes and pooped. Talk about a crappy way to start your day. What is a sure-fire way to start your day off wrong?  When three teenagers start arguing about who's going into the bathroom first!

8) How much money would a company have to offer you for you to agree to cover your personal car in an advertisement?  You don't have to pay most people to do their cars like this....lots of teenagers in our town think this is cool....but you'd have to pay me A LOT to do it to my car!!
9) If you suddenly found yourself living in a country (like North Korea) that is hated by pretty much the rest of the world, would you try to move or stay where you are and hope things get better?  I'd move as quickly as I could...
10) If you could choose between being invisible or being able to fly, which of these two superpowers would you choose?  I'd so love to be able to fly....that would be sooooo cool, but I'd probably like being invisible so I could find out exactly what my children are doing when they think I'm not around.

Friday Confessional

Photobucket

I confess.....
that I think it is crazy that kids today think that as soon as they are able to drive, they should have a new car!

I confess.....
that my daughter is one of those crazy kids, and she's mad as a hornet right now because her daddy and I got new/used cars out of necessity.

I confess.....
that I love my new car!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. The last movie I saw was       Water for Elephants.  Chuck and I went to see it shortly after I finished reading the novel.  We both loved it!

2. I want to eat nacho chips with black bean and corn salsa and guacamole......

3. Surprises are   hard to come by....it is very difficult to surprise me, so don't try!
4. The best accessory is one's smile and attitude....

5. My favorite warm drink is a good hot cup of coffee with vanilla creamer.....

6. My favorite cold drink is        sweet tea....I'm a good Southern girl. .
7. Currently loving        my sweet husband.  He and I celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary this week.  He also arranged for both of us to get new/used cars this week.  He really didn't have to do it, but because the compressor was about to poop out on my car, he went ahead and traded it in!  He is absolutely the BEST, and I love him now more now than I did all those years ago.  He's my best friend, my rock, and my love!
