I'm back....

I've been wondering to myself why I've not made any blog entries lately...

Am I being lazy?

Am I too busy?

Am I at a loss for words?

Am I keeping secrets?

Is life around here boring?

Nothing happens that worth writing about?

Well, I really don't know the answer for myself, but I'm going to make a conscious effort to get back into the swing of chronicling my thoughts and our family's activities. 

I love reading everyones' blogs, and I've not even been doing that lately....

What a slacker I am. :(

I'm going to try to do better....but only time will tell.

My fingers are crossed....I'm going to rebound from this bloggy slump!

WWTK Wednesday -- on Thursday..

{1} What do you love about blogging?  I love that I can get my thoughts and feelings chronicled, and that I get to document our family life.  Hopefully in years to come our children will appreciate this blog....

{2} What is your favorite scent of candle/air freshener?  Hands down, my favorite is Twisted Peppermint by Bath & Body Works! 

{3} How would you describe your style?  My style (which I honestly don't consider a style) is eclectic, comfortable, and low maintenance.

{4} What are 3 things your dream home would have that your current home doesn't have?  Central vacuuming, several more bedrooms, and huge bathrooms with tubs, showers, and dressing areas.
                                        

5} Do you look at your keyboard when you type?  I only look at the keyboard when I'm typing numbers....I never mastered the number-thing back in high school when I was learning to type on those horrid manual typewriters (now I feel old....).

It's finally Thanksgiving week.  We only have 2 days of school, and we are all so happy!  I think everyone here at MCHS is ready for a few days off....I know I am!!

Speaking of school, I'm disturbed at the number of my students who are doing CRAZY things and getting in trouble....and when I say CRAZY things, I mean things that are so out-of-character and obviously wrong...especially in a school setting!!  One was suspended last week for bringing a knife to school, and two were suspended today for *sexual misconduct*!  I know these kids are teenagers, and teenagers do CRAZY things, but my goodness..... :(

I've felt rotten all day today.

Lawren enjoyed her visit with the speech therapist from my former school.  She says she may be interested in studying SLP after high school.  I'm also going to set up a job-shadowing visit for her with an occupational therapist.  At least she's narrowed down the therapy part so she can begin work on her career portfolio for English class.

Today, MJ told me that she's interested in studying to be a dental hygienist after high school.  Good choice MJ!  I'm proud that you are at least thinking about the future!

Charles' world revolves around hunting these days.  He gets up early to go duck hunting.  After lunch, he goes and sits in a deer stand until it gets dark, then he's off with his buddies and his dog "coon" hunting.

Oh, and he is still going to EMT school....hopefully that won't interfere too much with hunting...

1.  Does your family/friends know about your blog?  My children know about it (but I don't know if they've ever read it), and so do my niece and sister-in-law.  I don't really know who else knows that I blog...
2.  What is your favorite card game?  I like to play Phase 10 and rummy.
3.  What do you wear to bed?   I wear a soft cotton nightshirt or t-shirt...
4.  What is your favorite kind of French Fry?  I like baked crinkle cut fries...

5.  What is your usual bed time?  I usually go to be around 11:00, but since the time change, I've been going a little earlier...

1. If you could put a spell on someone, who would it be and why?  I'd put a spell on my son Charles, and I'd make him more driven in things other than hunting, fishing, and firefighting....


2. If you could go back in time and relive one moment, what would it be?  I'd relive my wedding day because I would like to take everything in and savor the moments and the beauty of the occasion.

3.If you could go back in time and change one thing, what would it be?   I'd go back and change the evening that my mama died.   I would recognize that she was close to death and I would spend the night with her so I could be with her as she draws her last breath.


4. What movie/TV character do you most resemble in personality?  I resemble the the movie Cheaper by the Dozen....I love my children and their friends, and see a lot of humor in their actions and activities.


5. If you could push one person off a cliff and get away with it, who would it be?  I'd push several of the bullies at school off of a big, tall, steep cliff....


6. Name one habit you want to change in yourself.  I eat too darn much!


7. Describe yourself in one word.  Real

9. Why do you blog?  I blog because I am  trying to chronicle my family's day to day activities, my thoughts and feelings, and our life.

Hmmmm.....where do I start??

My blog started a little over a year ago as a personal experiment.  I honestly did not think that I would blog more than a month, at most, but here I am....still blogging. 

I blog about whatever is on my mind.

Sometimes I blog about nothing at all.

I blog about my three teenagers and my husband.

I blog about our busy family activities.

I blog about sports and food.

I blog about my calling in life, my career as a high school special education teacher.

I blog about me and for myself.

It is hoped that one day my family will treasure these words.

I also hope that maybe someone who doesn't know me well will gain insight into the workings of my heart, mind, and soul.

I appreciate all of my followers, and I love to follow.

I get so many good ideas and loads of inspiration from the bloggers that I follow.

I feel a connection with many of the writers whom I follow.

Honestly, I think my blogging efforts will continue as it is one of my daily creative outlets.

1.  Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?  I prefer crunchy, but I'm in the minority in my household on that choice...
2.  What is your favorite color Rose?  White roses....
3.  Do you remove your shoes when you walk into your home?  No, I usually wear them until I go to bed at night...
4.  What is your favorite season?  I love summer, with spring and fall close behind...I hate winter and cold weather!!
5.  Approximately how many hours a day do you spend blogging?  Not many...probably 30 minutes or so....

1. Do you listen to music at work, and if so, do you use a mp3 player, play it through your office computer, or do you listen to it collectively via a separate radio you keep nearby?  I'm a teacher, so I don't get to listen to music throughout the day.  I do allow my students to listen to their mp3's after they are finished with their assignments.  I also accompany one of my classes to the weight room, and sometimes the coach turns up the volume on some classic rock to get the kids motivated....


2. Tell us something about people that you absolutely hate.  I absolutely hate strongly dislike dishonesty and deception within people.....


3. What is something someone has done that you'd like the world to know about?  I'd like the world to know that my mama worked very hard to raise 5 children pretty much on her own, and she did a great job, if I do say so myself.....I hope that one day my children think of me in half the way I remember her......


4. Where is your favorite place to sit when at home?  I like to sit on the end of the couch, but that doesn't happen very much....I'm usually up moving around taking care of little things....


5. How did you come up with the title of your blog?  When I started the blog, I had no idea what to name it, so I just chose "Everyday Life" kind of as a last minute thought with the intention of changing it...


6. Tell us about the one who got away.  He didn't get away...I handed him two grocery store paper bags and told him to leave!!


7. Have you ever had a big birthday party?  Nope....but my 50th birthday is coming up....maybe it will happen then....


8. What was the biggest bash you've ever attended?  Probably a wedding....been to lots of those....


9. With my kids and an always changing life, I find myself sometimes unable to focus! Do you have that problem, too?  Yep....sometimes I'm pulled in so many different directions with my children, husband, career, etc., that I just can't seem to get it all together.

Holy Trinity...

I believe that people are basically good.

I believe that you should try to make good choices in life.
I believe that you should do the right thing because it's the right thing to do.

60 Minutes is probably my all-time favorite show.  I remember when I was a student at Winthrop and would try to time my trip back to Rock Hill on Sunday afternoons so I could be back in time to watch the newest episode...

 I also like 48 Hours, another "newsy" TV show on CBS....

I love The Andy Griffith Show....there is always a lesson to be learned from each episode in this series. 

Dry, cerebral wit and humor is how I describe The Big Bang Theory!  Love this one too!!

And, of course, I enjoy too many reality TV shows like
Survivor, Big Brother, Project Runway, The Next Food Network Star, and The Amazing Race....
