What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm linking up with Jamie for my favorite...
WHAT I'M LOVING WEDNESDAY!

I'm loving...
the Carolina Cyclones and their five wins this past weekend in the tournament in Florence.  They were undefeated!  Way to go, Cyclones!

MJ, catching behind the plate...

Lawren, watching one go by...
I'm loving...
the discussions about friends that my classes had today....they have so many good ideas!!

Each sticky note answers a question about friendship!

I'm loving....
this sweet girl.
Whenever you ask her how she is doing, she replies, "I am doing excellent today!"
She's always smiling, working hard, and has a sunny disposition....she's an inspiration to me everyday!

I'm loving....
that tonight is a "Big Brother" night and they are about down to the final episode.
Now I'm ready for the new Survivor on Sept. 14th!!

I'm loving....
that I finally had time to pack up my coffee maker and take it to school with me.  Some mornings I just need a cup to start my day off right!

I'm loving....
the time that we are taking for the rest of this week to bond and reconnect.  When things are so busy and hectic around the house and at school, it's time to apply the brakes and just say, "Whoa!  We are going to stay at home and just be with each other for a few days."
It's obvious that this quiet time is past due, huh?
I'm loving...
as usual and as always, these handsome men
and these beautiful girls
and this feisty puppy!

We Want to Know Wednesday

Photobucket

1. What is your favorite holiday?  My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving...love the time of year, the food, the family connections..

2. Do you have any fun holiday traditions? What are they?  We always get together with Chuck's family for supper on Thanksgiving and Christmas nights, and I fix the turkey, dressing, and gravy.  Another holiday tradition is that we decorate our Christmas trees with all Hallmark ornaments that Chuck and I have collected since we've been married.

3. When do you start Christmas shopping?  Not nearly early enough....usually in mid-December.

4. What is your favorite holiday food?  My favorite is something that I'll never have again....my mama's turkey dressing.  As I said above, I make it every Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it's just not the same....not Mama's...

5. Share a favorite childhood holiday memory.  A favorite childhood holiday memory is the Easter that my mama made me a green dress with white flowers, and I had new shiny, white shoes.  Chandler and her family was visiting and we took pictures standing in front of the blooming azaleas with the Poloroid insta-matic camera...

 6. Have you ever actually tried fruitcake??  Tried it, yes.  Like it, no!  My brother Larry makes many fruitcakes every Christmas season, and people LOVE them!  Fruitcakes are just not my thing though...

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters

Happy Labor Day friends and neighbors!
I'm linking up with Carissa for this week's posting of
MISCELLANY MONDAY!
[one]
Friday night the MCHS Bulldogs were stomped by Scotland....but
Postgame on Main went on as usual.  We had probably 32 teenagers come to FUMC and play basketball and hang out with their friends.   A good time was had by all until....
[two]
I got a popcorn kernel caught in my throat and went into respiratory distress.  :(  What a scary event!  I was coughing but could not catch my breath.  Thank you, Lawren, for trying to help me out and for taking me home!
[three]
The Carolina Cyclones played in a weekend showcase tournament in Florence.  Talk about a LONG DAY!  The first game was at 10:40 AM and the last began at 6:40 PM.  Good news though....the Cyclones won all three games on Saturday, and the girls and I had a good time together.
[four]
Sunday morning started out as usual with Sunday school and church, and then we quickly changed clothes and headed back to Freedom Florence for game two of the softball tournament.  For a change, back-to-back games proved to be a blessing.  The Cyclones played two games, won both, and we were on the way back home.  After "Big Brother" and Super Supreme pizza, we called it a night.
[five]
HOORAY for Labor Day!
I slept until 10:00, had some yummy hummus and toasted bagels for lunch, and now I'm watching the "Chopped" marathon on Food Network and blogging.  What could make the day better??

[six]
Chuck has a BFD meeting tonight and he's having Low Country Boil for supper, so all I have to do is drive out to the high school and pick up some plates for myself and the girls.  That makes the day PERFECT!!

Monday Music Moves Me

So, my husband has a new car with Sirius satellite radio, and he and I listen to the 70's on 7 station occasionally.   Yesterday on the way to church, "Sister Golden Hair" came on, and I automatically started singing along....and I'd probably not heard the song in 30 years!  How does that happen??

Anyway, from 1976, and for your listening pleasure, here's "Sister Golden Hair" by America!!

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 4

Day 4:  Tell us about your family

I am the 5th and last child born to Harriet and Lawrence Davis.  My older siblings are Larry, Chandler, Frank, and John.   Our daddy died when I was only 4, so my mama was left with us 5 children to raise on her own.....and she did a good job, in my opinion.

I have many four nieces and four nephews on the Davis side of the family...Happy, Joey, Mary, Jeff, Frankie, Jo Anne, Kit, and Evans.  Each one is very special to me.  I also have 4 great-nieces and 3 great-nephews...John, Harvey, Victoria, Law, Lily, Isabella, and Abbie.  These children are our family's hope for the future!  God bless them all!

My husband Chuck and I got married in June of 1992.  In August of 1993, we were blessed with our first child, a son, Charles III.  Not quite two years later, in August of 1995, we welcomed fraternal twin daughters, Lawren and Mary Jo, into our family.  Since our children were born, our life has been filled with much love, excitement, fun, adventure, and never ending busyness...and I love every minute of our crazy, hectic life.
