Lawren and Mary Jo played in  the NSA Summer Stars Showcase Tournament the weekend of June 18-19, 2011, in Rock Hill, SC.  While there, I had the opportunity to visit my college Alma mater, Winthrop College/University.  It has been years since I've been on campus.  A lot was still the same, but there were a lot of changes too.

Miscellany Monday

What a wonderful Mother's Day weekend we had!  Chuck tried really hard to make sure that my time was special, and he was successful.  I enjoyed spending time with him and the children.

 Here's something that made me really happy this weekend....

Josh's grandmama, Margie, sent me this delicious chocolate cake as a thank you for helping Josh out with his school work.  Of course, the gesture was appreciated, but I totally love helping him out!

The Lady Dawgs lost Friday night!  Boo!  They played the (amazing) St. James Sharks, a very well-coached team.  The Sharks could hit, run, AND play defense.  Our girls made a few too many errors, and those combined with the other teams skills, caused a loss for our team.  We will play again tomorrow night against the loser of the Hartsville vs. Georgetown game.

Graduation time is right around the corner for the class of 2011.  Today they are taking a group picture of all of the seniors in their caps and gowns, and Charles is not at school.  He and the golf team traveled to Darlington to play for spots at the Lower State tourney.

I've definitely neglected working on my Day Zero Project (101 in 1001) as of  late.  I've let a few of the goals fall by the wayside but I'm going to do my best to catch up on them.  Keep an eye out for future updates....hopefully they'll be posted sooner rather than later!

I'm loving that I'm finally a BULLDOG!! 

  I'm so excited!  I was able to transfer into the special education department since a teacher asked to be reassigned to the PE department. 

Thank you God for answering my prayers....I'm so very, very happy to be at the same school and on the same schedule as my husband and children.

I'm loving that I'm consistently accomplishing items on my 101 in 1001 list.  Here's what I've crossed off recently:

25.  Donate to heifer.com in honor of at least 10 people

32.  Find an established softball team for Lawren and Mary Jo

62.  Organize video collection

73.  Purchase a new TV

86.  Send 10 postcards vis postcrossing.com....completed, but it's so much fun that I'm going to continue!!

95.  Transferred to MCHS

105.  Watch 10 classic movies I've never seen before

 I'm loving this poster that I rediscoverd when decorating my new classroom.....it just says it all!

Happy MLK, Jr. Day....another school holiday for us.....

We have not been to school since the middle of December because of our winter intercession and then the snow....

Secretly, I'm ready to go back to work, but I've seriously enjoyed my time off....I've slept late just about every day, and spent QT with my family!!!

We have a new baby in the house.....

The girls, Chuck, and I went to Timmonsville to the Honda plant for our first meeting with the parents and coaches of the Palmetto Force.  Lawren is going to play on the 18U showcase team and MJ is on the 16U team.  One of my goals for my

Day Zero Project (101 in 1001) was to find an established fastpitch softball team

for the girls, and I think I've done just that! I'm really excited about the girls playing softball this spring, summer, and fall!

Miscellany Monday

We got SNOW!!  For normally sunny SC, we got a lot!  The children had a ball playing outside yesterday, making a snowman and snowcream.  They've had so much FUN!

Because of the snow on Sunday, I had to postpone my family gathering.  I was really sad because I was so looking forward to seeing everyone, but we're going to try again next Sunday afternoon.  I can hardly wait to see everyone!

Josh brought MJ a puppy for Christmas.  She was a mixed breed, two month old precious baby....a big baby!  Definitely not what MJ had in mind.  She wanted a small breed dog.  Not to worry....the beautiful little girl was quickly adopted by Mickey and her family, and named Snooki!  MJ is very happy that the puppy has a good home close by so she can see her whenever she wants to.

HOORAY for me!  I got a GPS for Christmas.  It is just like Jenny's, so I'm happy!  Thank you Santa!  I must have been a good girl this year!

I've got to take time to look over my Day Zero Project (101 in 1001) list....I think I've accomplished a few items, or at least partially completed several goals.  Maybe I'll be able to take care of this project within the next few days!

OMG....I need VALIUM!!  I love my husband  but he is driving me crazy!  I've got to find a few minutes of peace and quiet....no one to constantly watch me and ask me questions!  He has had a cold with cough and congestion for the past week or two and cannot seem to do anything but sit on the couch and watch TV or sleep....please get well soon!  I don't know how much more of a "sick man" I can take....

12 Days of Christmas Blog Challenge Day 11

 New Years Resolutions

It's kinda early to make New Years Resolutions...if you're a procrastinator like me.  

Anyway, here is my thought --

I would like to accomplish at least half of the items on my Day Zero Project (101 in 1001) list.  I've been trying to work on these goals...my progress is recorded along the left hand side of my page...

Postcrossing

I'm so EXCITED!!  I received my first postcard Tuesday!! 

One of my goals for my Day Zero Project was to send 10 postcards via postcrossing.com and my efforts have finally paid off!  I got the above postcard from Yu-Ying in Taiwan.  She wrote that the temple was built "in memory of a very influential scholar more than 5000 years ago.  He can be called the father of Chinese culture. The temple is located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan."

I found this to be very interesting, and furthermore, I think I'm hooked...

even after I send 10 postcards, I'll probably continue to participate....hopefully I'll learn more about world cultures, geography, and will meet some new people~~~

Miscellany Monday

We had a pretty low-key weekend.  Chuck and I were able to go out Friday night for supper because the kids had gone to the beach to the World Combat Challenge.  They had a good time, and we enjoyed each other's company.

Why does laundry multiply once it is put in the laundry room?  I really don't understand how a few days' worth of clothes can take all weekend to wash, dry, and fold...

I've been trying new recipes lately.  I think my Day Zero Project has inspired me to break away from the mundane and branch out a little.  Saturday night's supper was Texas Stew, and it was so warm and comforting on a cool evening.  (I'll share the recipe in a future posting...)

Have I mentioned lately that the group of first graders that I'm teaching are wonderfully refreshing??  I'm sure I have because they are always on my mind.  Since I teach special education in an inclusion setting, I have the opportunity to work with a whole class even though I officially serve only six of them.  They are all so wide-eyed and innocent....I really love them all!!

And lastly, I've said it before, and I'll say it again....I was born at night, but not last night!  As soon as my children learn this little saying and apply it to their lives (when dealing with their mama), they will find that their lives are a lot happier and less confrontational.  just saying...

Day Zero Project - 101 in 1001

I've marked yet another item off of my Day Zero Project list....

74. Purge "extra sock" basket

The socks in this basket have been accumulating for years....
You know there is always a orphan sock or two when
the laundry comes out of the dryer!

Yesterday afternoon, I took time to go through the socks in the
basket and match up any that could even remotely pass as the same...
and then dumped the rest!

I never thought that an empty clothes basket could make me
feel like a winner!!!  YAY ME!!!
