The snow was beautiful, but it is a blessing that it is melting, melting, melting!  I don't like cold weather, and I DON'T LIKE SNOW!!

I am blessed that even though my Davis family gathering didn't materialize on Sunday because of the weather, I was able to talk to everyone and reschedule it for this coming Sunday afternoon at 2:00.   I'm so excited about all five of us and our families getting together under one roof for the first time in about 18 years....

I am so thankful that my children are well-rounded and growing to be more independent every day.  They have so many talents and interests and stay busy all of the time with sports, hobbies, and friends.  I love them very much and am so proud to be their mama.

I am blessed beyond measure that God sent his only Son, Jesus, into this sinful world to save us all from our sins.  How wonderful it is to know that He lived and walked on this earth as a humble, yet great man, and has gone on to prepare a place where we can all go to live with Him eternally.  I look forward to meeting up with my Lord and Savior and all of my loved ones some day...what a glorious event that will be!

It is truly hard to count all of the blessings that I have received over the years.  I was born into a large loving family.  I was taught right from wrong and to always do my best.  I learned to treat others as I wanted to be treated, and that if I couldn't say something nice, I shouldn't say anything at all....

Chuck and I are trying to bring up our children with those same morals and values....but it's a tough, uphill battle.  Teens are exposed to so many negative influences in their lives.  Classmates, friends, teammates, teachers, coaches, and acquaintances have such an impact on their day to day lives.  Peer pressure (or the devil) can force them to make bad choices, and sometimes those poor choices can affect the rest of their lives. 

I've said this before, but it bears repeating....I believe that everything happens for a reason.  The experiences and happenings of today, along with your upbringing, make you who you'll be tomorrow.  One has to fail, face disappointments, and go through trials and tribulations that test one's strength in order to become wiser and stronger.

I pray every day that our children will grow and become all that they can be.  It is our  hope that when they are adults, they will feel blessed to have grown up in our family.   I hope that they will realize that our earnest intention as parents was to nurture them, encourage them, and teach them what they need to know to become independent and productive.

Truthfully, I don't feel very blessed right now...I'm tired, I have a backache, and my eyes are super dry!  Hopefully as I progress in this posting and start counting my blessings, I will start to feel better..

I'm blessed that I have my little after school job at school.  I'm able to hang out with middle schoolers,  help students with their homework for two hours a day or two a week, and get paid to do it!   The pay is not much, but every little bit helps, especially here at Christmastime.

I'm blessed that the Advent Fair at FUMC on Sunday came off without a hitch!  Everyone who helped out was so accommodating and well-prepared.  A heartfelt thank you to all of the center leaders, my Sunday school class, and the kitchen help!!  You are all greatly appreciated.  (I'm going to blog about the event in the near future....stay tuned for that...)

It has truly been a blessing to make new blogging friends.  I've met a lot of new people, and am up to 59 followers thus far.  I love reading everyone elses' blogs and have learned so much from other's postings.  Blogging has also given me some much needed  "me time,"....a time that I can reflect, remember, and write about what's on my mind and my families' hopes and dreams for the future.

(I'm starting to feel better already!)

It is a blessing that Christmas break is right around the corner!  HOORAY!!

I'm blessed because I am loved by my husband and my children.  They mean the world to me and I love them with all of my heart.  Even though I may complain about the laundry and the hectic schedule we keep, I wouldn't trade one minute of the time that I spend as the parent of three active teenagers and wife of an over-committed husband.  

I am blessed.... :)

There are so many things that my family and I have to be thankful for...

so many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon us.

Here are a few for this Thanksgiving week....

 

We were all saddened Sunday morning by the death of Izzy.  She was such a sweet little puppy and surely showed us a lot about love. I think our family was blessed by having her in our lives for the few weeks in November that she was with us.

 

I'm blessed to have a willing and helpful church family who will pitch in to work on projects.  I've been planning the Advent Fair for kids and adults at FUMC on Sunday afternoon, and our Sunday school class is serving a soup and sandwich supper afterwards.  Hopefully the event will turn out good and all involved will learn new things about Christ's birth and traditions of the season.

 

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating....

we will be out of school for the next five days, and that's a blessing because all of us need a short respite from the day-to-day hustle. 

 

I am thankful that the plans for the Davis family get-together on Dec. 26 are coming along.  I've heard from all of my brothers and my sister, and so far, I think all of them will be able to come.  I sure hope most of my nieces and nephews will be there too!  It would be wonderful to have everyone together....we've not all been together since Chuck and I got married in June 1992....(OMG!  That's 18 years!)

 

My family and I are blessed to be members of the household of faith and to be believers in Christ Jesus.  We are blessed to live in America where we can openly worship and praise God without fear of persecution.  We are thankful for all of the gifts that God has given us and recognize that all things come through Him.  Thank you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for giving us the opportunity to serve you.  Let Your light shine through all of us so that others may see.

During the month of November, it seems, we all take time to think about our blessings and what we have to be thankful for.  If you're like me, sometimes you get so caught up in your everyday life, you forget to take time to stop and reflect on what is really important and what really matters.  God has bestowed upon us so many wonderful gifts...so many we will never be able to count them all.  Here are a few that I want to remember today:

My town and its leaders

(remember to get out and vote today...)

Our nation...the land of the free and the home of the brave

My family, especially my husband and my children

(I love you all more than you'll ever know)

My school, my career, my passion

(I'm so lucky to be able to work in such a nurturing, caring environment)

Jesus, my Lord and Savior

who loves me and accepts me in spite of my shortcomings and flaws...
