It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

..to be so excited that high school softball season is finally starting!

..that our Valentine's Day supper was postponed because of Chuck's class.  We'll get together hopefully soon.

..to insist on only Kleenex brand tissue....I despise any other facial tissue, and right now, I have a cheap box on my desk...ugggh! :(

..to be upset that my oven has quit working again!  I wish Charles would take time to look at it and see if he can fix it...

..that I'm semi-addicted to Pinterest.  I look perusing the site and pinning ideas, products, and crafts for future reference.

..to be worried about my student who is in the hospital.  Please get well soon....we miss you!

..to make a plate of spaghetti and sauce for Pippi's supper instead of putting it away as leftovers.

..to be happy that L and MJ are getting along so nicely these days.  They are planning to go out together for supper Friday night, just the two of them!  :)  :)

(Go link up with Amber and tell everyone what you think is OK!)

WWTK Wednesday...on Thursday, once again!

Photobucket

{1} Which of the following phrases characterizes how you live your life?

a. You only live once

b. test the water before jumping in

c. stability is the key to life

Our family is at the "test the water before jumping in" stage.  With three independent, strong-willed teenagers living under one roof, we are always undertaking new adventures and being challenged with new ideas, thoughts, and actions.  It seems that all three are suddenly trying to decide where they fit in and making decisions as to their future life pathways.  God help us live through this stage....

{2} What were you doing the last time you had a really good laugh?  I was talking with a student...one who said that a penguin was a fish... :)

{3} Who is the last person you hugged?  my daughter Lawren...

{4} What song always makes you happy when you hear it?  Although I don't hear these nearly enough, "Animal" by Neon Trees .....

and "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train make me very happy :))

{5} What's the first thing you thought about this morning?  Toooooooo early.....

(Go link up with Mamarazzi....I did!)

It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays
It's OK...

..that I've not blogged much over Christmas break from school.  I'll start blogging regularly again soon.

..to really miss my Christmas break schedule...staying up LATE each night and sleeping LATE every morning.

..to be a little upset that MJ has decided to have her tragus pierced...I don't feel like I can say too much because when I was her age (in the 70's), I had several holes in each ear...before that was a common fashion statement...

..that I've fallen in love with Chuck's iPad...

..that everyday I pray for willpower so I can lose weight..

..that I flipped out at school today because two boys were trying to bully one of my students.  I turned the table on them and let them know how it feels...

..that I pressed all of my students to write down New Year's resolutions, and we posted them in our classroom.  Hopefully we'll be able to evaluate our "stick-with-it-ness" from now until school is out in late May.

..to be secretly happy that Chuck has class tonight and I don't have to worry about having supper ready at a certain time.

..to insist that Lawren invite her "friend" over to meet us before allowing her to go out at night to visit with him.

..to be glad that deer season is over.  I'm tired to washing Charles' blood-stained pants and shirts.

It's OK Thursday

It's been a while since I linked up with Amber for
It's OK Thursday....
(go link up too!)

I've come to the conclusion that it's OK....

..that the majority of the fam did not eat supper at home last night, even though I cooked.  Leftovers = today's lunch at school :)

..to be pleasantly surprised at the amount on my TAP check...and pleasantly surprised I was!!  (Maybe I don't dislike TAP as much as I thought I did :)

..that I've already imagined where every dollar of my TAP check could be spent, and I've not even taken it to the bank yet!

..that I'm highly skeptical about the job that Charles just phoned me about.  It is a sales job, and I just don't see him as a salesman.  It also sounds too good to be true.  Time will tell.

..to be excited about my Christmas Blog Challenge.  Today is day one, so come on bloggy friends....join in.

..to be super PROUD of five of my students who won for their fire safety posters!  One student even won 3rd place in the district competition!  WTG Clifton!!

beagles - my all time favorite dog breed

Growing up in Cheraw, we always had two beagles, Pete and Sam. When something happened to them, we got two more, Pete and Sam. We had others too....Martha, PD, and Marty. All of them were good, sweet dogs who brought our family a lot of pet pleasure.

After moving to Bennettsville, I continued to have beagles as pets. The first, and probably the best dog ever, was Pal, a beagle-mix. We got her from an abandoned barn out in Wallace when L and MJ were around 4 years old. Pal was a loyal, constant companion for all three children up until the day she died. She went with them wherever they went here in the neighborhood. Everyone knew her, and grew to love her. She was definitely considered a member of our family and will always be remembered and missed.

Over the past few years, our home has been a refuge for reject beagles. What I mean by reject beagles is that hunters don't want beagles who won't chase rabbits, so we've had several who have come to live with us...Spanky, Little Bit, Lemon, and a brief lay-over by Copper. That's OK though, they are welcome here!

Birkenstocks

Call them what you may, but Birkenstock shoes, clogs, and sandals are the most comfortable shoes ever made. I probably have 15 or so pairs, and wear them year-round.

blueberries

When Chuck and I bought our house, we dug up a few blueberry bush sprigs from underneath Larry's blueberry bushes and planted them along the sunny fence line in our back yard. The bushes are now over 6 feet tall and produce quarts and quarts of fat, sweet blueberries each summer. I've used them to make pies, cobblers, jams, pancakes, muffins, and salads. We've eaten them by the handfuls and on morning bowls of cereal. I've even bagged and frozen the berries for later use....just think about a warm blueberry cobbler on a cold winter night....YUM!

Bath and Body Works

Oh my goodness! B&BW is the best store ever!! Lawren, MJ and I have to limit our visits because we spend way too much money every time we go there. Lawren's favorite scents of late are a part of the summer vanilla collection, White Citrus, and Mandarin Mango. Mary Jo is Sweet Pea and Cherry Blossom kind of girl, preferring the more floral scents. Personally, I prefer Sea Island Cotton, Dancing Waters, Rain Kissed Leaves, and Orange Sapphire. Really though, in our opinion, all of their products, lotions, creams, sprays, soaps, etc. are super!

Alphabe-Thursday...
and I'm very EXCITED!!

It's OK Thursday

I love linking up for
It's OK
Thursday...

It's OK....

..to be sad about the loss of exotic animal-life in Ohio.  The news reports and pictures of the aftermath are horrific!

..to let all of my students participate in the 4-H Fire Safety Poster Contest.  Even though they high school-age students, they don't academically perform on a high school level.  Their ranges of abilities are as different as their ranges of  artistic abilities.

..to follow the rules and be consistent....and want others to do the same!

..to be ecstatic that regular season varsity volleyball is over.  The first round of playoffs is Oct.27 in Chapin, and honestly, that will probably be the only playoff game the Lady Dawgs play.

..to hear thru the grapevine that the Carolina Cyclones will cease to exist after this season ends.  Lawren and MJ were probably not going to continue to participate in showcase softball anyway...

..to thank Jesus that all is well with my sweet niece and her husband's little one.  Prayers were once again answered.

(Go link up with Amber and Neely and tell everyone what you think is OK!)

It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays

I'm having a hard time coming up with
"It's OK" Thursday
statements today....

It's OK....

..for MJ to believe that she and her bf are "taking a temporary break" from each other.  I've used that line myself and I know what it means.

..to take four Pepcid AC's in a 24-hour period....isn't it?

..to be overjoyed that I have a meeting scheduled for 12:30 today to dismiss one of my former students.  He no longer qualifies for services, and that is a good thing!

..for me not to go to the volleyball match in Latta this afternoon.  Hopefully they will win, even without me there to cheer them on.

..to plan for just leftovers for supper tonight.  I've cooked for the past three nights in a row so we have plenty of food in the refrig we can heat up.

..to be sad that Charles loves to hunt...I feel so sorry for the innocent animals who are gunned down while they are just hanging out in the woods.
(Yes, I understand survival of the fittest, thinning out the herd/flock, etc., but still, I'm sad...)

..to love my job/career so much!  My students are very spirited and try so hard to be academically successful!  I'm super proud of all of them!!
(Well, that wasn't so bad after all....go link up with Amber and Neely and tell everyone what you think is OK!)
