Saturday 9: Against All Odds

1. Have you ever tried to rekindle a past relationship against the odds?  No....there's no one I'd like to reconnect with as far as romantic relationships....

2. Do you like your job, or daily routine?  I love my job...my career!  I'm a special education teacher at the high school level teaching FACS....best job ever!

3. Do you find time to 'smell the flowers' so to speak?  Yes, I certainly try to...

4. Do you have any problems thinking of things to write about in my blog?  Yes, I do.  It seems like I participate in memes sometimes so I can have something to write about.

5. Do others consider you well organized?  No, not really.  Other people think that I am, but it's just a facade..I would say that I'm stuck in a cycle of "organized chaos!"

6. Do you always have a “Plan B” just in case?  No, because I'm optimistic that "Plan A" will work out.... :)

7. How do you find yourself adjusting to new situations? I go with the flow....

8. Are you happy with where you are in this point of your life?  Yes, most definitely.  I have a nice home, a caring husband, three great teenagers, a wonderful job, and the unconditional love of my Lord and Savior.

9. Do you find the aging process we all go through easy or difficult?  Pretty easy....I'm a very low-maintenance person...

One word you don't want to hear when you are getting a haircut....

Oops!

Charles came in all nasty, hot, and sweaty from working Salkehatchie Wednesday afternoon and insisted he needed a haircut.  I sent him to the bathroom to dry his hair with a towel, and then he came back to the kitchen for his shearing....

Everything was going along fine......until the guard fell off the clippers and I didn't realize it!!
All I could say was, "OMG!  I'm so sorry!"

Well after my profuse apologies (and blaming him for not clicking the guard on correctly), we had a little fun....

How do you like the "reverse Mohawk?"
I cut his hair so he'd look like his daddy!
But this is how it finally ended up....we really had no other choice!
He was a very good sport about the whole situation....but said that maybe I needed to take a break from my haircutting duties for a while.
(It is going to be a while until he needs another haircut, don't you think??)

Sorry again, Charles....

Fill in the Blank Friday

{the delicious sweet biscuits @ Tasty n Sons}

Today I'm linking up with Lauren over at "The Little Things We Do."
  Follow suit:)

1. My plans this summer include   working/cleaning/organizing here in the house and watching my girls play softball.  This is my first "long" summer in the  past 11 years and I'm going to try to make the most of it!

2. The best summer I ever had was   probably the summer Chuck and I got married...1992.  We were pretty much care-free (just us...no children) and excited about the beginning of our life together...planning, dreaming, wishing, trying, etc.....of course, any summer is a "best summer" for a teacher!

3. Summer is   no school, sleeping late, staying up late, sitting by the pool, relaxing, reading, softball, fresh veggies and fruits!

4. My favorite summer food is   a fresh, home-grown tomato sandwich with Duke's mayo and fresh white bread!  It does not get any better than that!

5. The best way to quench a summer thirst is with   sweet iced tea....I couldn't say anything other than that, being a true Southern girl....

6. My summer uniform consists of         100% cotton shorts and t-shirts, and either Crocs or Birks..... .

7. The best thing about summer is that you have time to do things you want to do, as opposed to things you HAVE to do.  You get to be with your family and spend leisure time with those that you've not seen in a while.  You have time to reconnect with yourself and others... and of course, summer softball.....

10 Days of BS Challenge - Day 3

I'm linking up with Destiny, the Rockin' Mama, for this very unique blog challenge....

10 Days of Bullshit Challenge

Day 03- An experience you're not proud of, but has made you the person you are today.

I'll just go ahead and say it....I'm not proud of the fact that I got married while still in college...my senior year.  I did finish college right on time, but I married a man who was certainly not the best choice for me.  I think I was in love with the idea of being "in love" as all of my college friends were getting diamonds and planning weddings.

I met BH when I was a freshman and we dated off and on throughout my college years, but not seriously.  For a while, I blew him off and didn't see him at all, but then he reappeared and we got back together.  He usually held a steady job, which meant money for a poor college student.....

We married in a beautiful ceremony at my home church in Cheraw.  Right before walking down the aisle, I told my brother, "I don't want to do this," but he said, "Everybody is here, you may as well," so I did.  We stayed together for two years and three months, but I was miserable about the whole time.

I know that everything happens for a reason, and BH came into my life to show me what I wanted in a mate and what I definitely did not want in a mate.  He taught me what I would tolerate and what I would not stand for.  My time with him made me realize that I deserved someone who was educated and had an established career, who didn't take me for a fool, and who loved me (and only me) and was willing to put aside
his single-boy ways....

Thank you BH....
