{1} Which of the following phrases characterizes how you live your life?

a. You only live once

b. test the water before jumping in

c. stability is the key to life

Our family is at the "test the water before jumping in" stage.  With three independent, strong-willed teenagers living under one roof, we are always undertaking new adventures and being challenged with new ideas, thoughts, and actions.  It seems that all three are suddenly trying to decide where they fit in and making decisions as to their future life pathways.  God help us live through this stage....

{2} What were you doing the last time you had a really good laugh?  I was talking with a student...one who said that a penguin was a fish... :)

{3} Who is the last person you hugged?  my daughter Lawren...

{4} What song always makes you happy when you hear it?  Although I don't hear these nearly enough, "Animal" by Neon Trees .....

and "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train make me very happy :))

{5} What's the first thing you thought about this morning?  Toooooooo early.....

(Go link up with Mamarazzi....I did!)

It's OK Thursday

Its Ok Thursdays
It's OK...

..that I've not blogged much over Christmas break from school.  I'll start blogging regularly again soon.

..to really miss my Christmas break schedule...staying up LATE each night and sleeping LATE every morning.

..to be a little upset that MJ has decided to have her tragus pierced...I don't feel like I can say too much because when I was her age (in the 70's), I had several holes in each ear...before that was a common fashion statement...

..that I've fallen in love with Chuck's iPad...

..that everyday I pray for willpower so I can lose weight..

..that I flipped out at school today because two boys were trying to bully one of my students.  I turned the table on them and let them know how it feels...

..that I pressed all of my students to write down New Year's resolutions, and we posted them in our classroom.  Hopefully we'll be able to evaluate our "stick-with-it-ness" from now until school is out in late May.

..to be secretly happy that Chuck has class tonight and I don't have to worry about having supper ready at a certain time.

..to insist that Lawren invite her "friend" over to meet us before allowing her to go out at night to visit with him.

..to be glad that deer season is over.  I'm tired to washing Charles' blood-stained pants and shirts.

WWTK Wednesday -- on Thursday..

{1} What do you love about blogging?  I love that I can get my thoughts and feelings chronicled, and that I get to document our family life.  Hopefully in years to come our children will appreciate this blog....

{2} What is your favorite scent of candle/air freshener?  Hands down, my favorite is Twisted Peppermint by Bath & Body Works!

{3} How would you describe your style?  My style (which I honestly don't consider a style) is eclectic, comfortable, and low maintenance.

{4} What are 3 things your dream home would have that your current home doesn't have?  Central vacuuming, several more bedrooms, and huge bathrooms with tubs, showers, and dressing areas.

5} Do you look at your keyboard when you type?  I only look at the keyboard when I'm typing numbers....I never mastered the number-thing back in high school when I was learning to type on those horrid manual typewriters (now I feel old....).

Miscellany Monday

It has been probably ten days since I've blogged, so I'm going to use
as the vehicle to recap all of our Christmas week activities.

[one]
Our first Christmas activity was a family trip to Columbia to Lake Murray Baptist Church for their production of This Man Called Jesus.  What a wonderful experience for our whole family.  We all enjoyed it and were moved by the play.

[two]
After the play and supper at Fuddruckers (YUMMY!!), we went to Riverbanks Zoo for the Lights Before Christmas.  The decorations and lights were spectacular, and the weather was perfect.

[three]
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Chuck and I finally got around to doing our Christmas shopping.  We went to Cheraw and Florence and got the few gifts we wanted to purchase.  We also made our yearly donation to heifer.org in honor of our families.

[four]
The girls and I were busy in the kitchen making delicious goodies for Christmas.  We made peanut butter fudge, pralines, cheese biscuits, sausage balls, sugar cookies, graham cracker goodies, and mints.  Thanks to Big Mama's recipe boxes, we have all of the instructions for the snacks and goodies that have always been a big part of Christmas in my family...

[five]
Saturday night we all attended the FUMC candlelight and communion service.  Afterwards, we had our annual soup and sandwich supper here at our house for the family.  I made veg. soup and broccoli soup, and we had lots of sandwich fixings and goodies.
[six]
After sleeping a little late, we got up on Christmas morning and went to church.  After the beautiful service, we came home to the sweet and spicy smells of breakfast casseroles.  We enjoyed our brunch, and then went into the den to open gifts.  I think that the children got a few things that they needed/wanted, and Chuck and I got a few things too...

[seven]
Christmas supper was a Creech family get-together at Bethel UMC, as we usually do every Christmas and Thanksgiving nights.  I cooked the turkey, dressing, and gravy.  There was so much good food there, and we all left full and happy.

[eight]
Our final Christmas gathering for the week was lunch today at Viv's.  Warren and Emily were here from the Columbia area, so we exchanged gifts with them and the others.  Then, out to the backyard for a corn hole tourney.  Lots and lots of fun was had by all!!

Merry Christmas all!

Fill in the Blank Friday

1. My most favorite "little thing" is sleeping late on Saturdays, and then getting up and hanging around the house in my nightclothes.... .

2. I give anything to for the children to willingly help decorate the Christmas tree..

3. I can't believe how awkward it is to talk to some my students about "real life" issues....some of them live on a completely different plane and appear to be being raised by adults with no sense of morals or values. .

4. The one thing I'd like to achieve today is getting the den straightened up so we can semi-decorate for the season....probably won't happen though...

5. The last thing I want to do today is allow stress invade my mind and heart..

6. If I were writing my own blank today, it would say: ...For me, the true meaning of Christmas is...                                  .

7. My favorite candle scent is Twisted Peppermint from Bath and Body Works..

Friday Fill-Ins

more lights

1. Sleigh bells ring, are ya listening?

2. It's coming on Christmas, they're cutting down trees ....please bring one to me...

3. You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch....

4. Father Christmas, be good to me, please..

5. Silent night. holy night.  All is calm, all is bright..

6. All I want for Christmas is peace and love in my family!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a quiet time with my family, tomorrow my plans include a play in Columbia, followed by the Lights Before Christmas as the zoo and Sunday, I want to put up our Christmas tree (better late than never)!
