30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 3

Day 3:  Tell us about your job

First of all....it's not just a job.
It's my career.
It's my passion.
It's my calling.

I'm a special education teacher.
This is my 27th year teaching, and I love it more today than I did in August of 1984 when I first started.
I've taught every grade level, pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Currently, I impact lives and impart knowledge to 9th - 12th graders at Marlboro County High School.
Go Bulldogs!!
I teach self-contained Family and Consumer Science and self-contained Health and Wellness to wonderful students who try really hard to do their best.

Truthfully, I cannot think of anything I'd rather do with my life and my time than to spend it with students, kids, children, teenagers, adolescents....whatever you want to call them.
They keep me young and current and alive!
My students show me how to be a better person and how to appreciate small things.
They teach me patience and tolerance.
They teach me as much as I teach them....if not more.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 2

Day 2:  Tell us about your blog....

Hmmmm.....where do I start??
My blog started a little over a year ago as a personal experiment.  I honestly did not think that I would blog more than a month, at most, but here I am....still blogging.

I blog about whatever is on my mind.
Sometimes I blog about nothing at all.
I blog about my three teenagers and my husband.
I blog about our busy family activities.
I blog about sports and food.
I blog about my calling in life, my career as a high school special education teacher.

I blog about me and for myself.
It is hoped that one day my family will treasure these words.
I also hope that maybe someone who doesn't know me well will gain insight into the workings of my heart, mind, and soul.

I appreciate all of my followers, and I love to follow.
I get so many good ideas and loads of inspiration from the bloggers that I follow.
I feel a connection with many of the writers whom I follow.

Honestly, I think my blogging efforts will continue as it is one of my daily creative outlets.
Get to know me....you may find in me a new friend!

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 1

Katie has started a
30 Day Blog Challenge
for the month of September!

Maybe I'll give it a try...

Day 1:  Introduce Yourself

Hey y'all!  I'm Jo.
I'm a
mama,
wife,
aunt,
teacher,
Carolina girl,
dog-lover,
friend,
and blogger.

I love to
cook,
sew,
teach special education,
watch my children play sports,
talk to teenagers,
drink diet Coke,
craft and create,
text,
and sunbathe.
I believe that
everyone can learn,
being polite and well-mannered has never hurt anyone,
we all want to be loved and accepted,
you should not ask for my opinion unless you are prepared to hear it,
natural beauty is most beautiful,
my children are my finest works,
random acts of kindness to others will ome back to you,
and most importantly,
I am a child of God,

It's OK Thursday

I'm linking up with Amber and Neely for this week's edition of
It's OK Thursday
Its Ok Thursdays
It's OK...

..to be upset when you discover that you've been lied to.

..to feel pity for those who feel they have to lie.

..to plan your Wednesday and Thursday evenings around "Big Brother."

..to not be sad that either Shelley or Adam is leaving tonight.

..that I insisted that Charles stop by Marlboro Rescue before dashing to the ER because he hurt his foot at work.

..that he's on the couch, icing his foot and full of Motrin, and we are just waiting to see how he is tomorrow morning.

..to crave sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns for supper, and convince the rest of the family that they crave it too.

..to be thrilled to have our master bathroom remodel completed.

..that I have to wait another week or so to have the hallway bathroom redone....I'm patient.

..to be overly excited about the girls are playing in a showcase tourney this weekend in Florence.  I absolutely love to watch them play softball!

..to plan to do next to nothing on Labor Day!
