Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   What I love most about my home is       the coziness and homeyness contained within the four brick walls....I also love remembering the good times and anticipating the future plans and memories that will be made there....

2.  I'm excited because,    I'm going to ride to the beach today to pick up L and MJ from a field trip, and then the Lady Dawgs play tonight in the first round of the Lower State softball championship!  GO BULLDOGS!!

3.  My preferred method for blowing  off steam when I'm frustrated is     to cook....or run away and be alone for a while...

4.  Currently I am craving   Wendy's FF and a frosty!

5.  The thing I love most about my mom is     that she made me who I am.  I learned so much from her and become more like her everyday.  She raised the five of us practically on her own and loved us unconditionally...she was a super mama!!

6.  If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be       "The Making of JoMama" because that encompasses most of my life, from adolescence to adulthood....and I'm still evolving.....

7.  If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be       pizza because you can put just about anything you want on pizza....load it with veggies and cheese, or cover it with fresh fruit and granola....it is the perfect food!!

We Want to Know Wednesday

Photobucket

1. If money didn't matter, where would your perfect vacation take place? Briefly describe. My husband and I (THE 2 OF US ONLY!!) would go to Key West and spend a week or so just doing nothing....or whatever we want to do!

2. What's a bad habit that you have {or had} that is/was hard to break? Biting my fingernails!  I bit them down past the quick for years.  I tried so many times to break the habit, and then oddly enough, I just stopped without realizing it....just looked one day and my nails had grown!!!  A miracle of sorts!

3. If you weren't on a diet or counting calories, what would you like to have for dinner tonight? I would have fried chicken, rice and gravy, butterbeans, corn, sliced tomatoes, biscuits, and sweet tea!  YUM!! My stomach is growling now....

4. If you had the chance to interview anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and what's one question that you would ask? I would definitely interview my mama.  I'd really listen to her stories and write them down so I could pass them on to my children.  I'd also ask her what heaven is like, and tell her one last time that I love her!

5. Describe yourself in 6 words. Crafty*Supportive*Motherly*Rational*Tolerant*Intelligent!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

One of my favorites....
What I'm Loving Wednesday!
Go link up with Jamie and join us.

I'm loving this cup of hot coffee with French vanilla creamer...
I really needed it to help me start my day here at school on this cool, rainy Wednesday.

I'm loving that the MCHS Lady Bulldogs have to win twice tonight in Darlington in order to take the District V bracket, and then be eligible to continue on the road to lower state and the state softball championship game.
Go Bulldogs!!

I'm especially loving my two favorite Bulldogs....

MJ and LB
And, speaking of softball...
I'm loving that we've made our decision as to which travel team the girls are playing with this season!

I'm definitely not loving that the father of one of my former cheerleaders was murdered yesterday!  Please remember the McLain-Brown family and pray for their peace and understanding.

(and last, but certainly not least)
I'm loving (and I'm so thankful for) the two men in my life....
Chuck and Charles

Morning with the MIL

After another health scare last night, we found out that the MIL had an appointment with her endocrinologist at 9:15 this morning in Florence.  Vivian said that she'd take her, but being the good DIL that I am, I offered to take the day off from school (use one of those 4 comp days I have) and go with her.

I picked her up around 8 AM and we headed toward Florence.  We arrived a little before time, but went on in and waited.  The nurse called her back pretty quick, and I got a few minutes to read Georgia Bottoms in the ridiculously cold waiting room.  By 10 AM, she was out of the examining room and we were on our way.

Dr. Culleton told her that her blood levels were OK and her diabetes was in check....she uses an insulin pump, BTW, and has for about the past 10 years.  Anyway, the doctor told her that when she gets the results back from her sleep study, and that doctor consults with her, maybe his recommendations will help her to feel better.  She suffers from sleep apnea and is tired all of the time, and sometimes confused and forgetful.

After she was finished at the doctor's office, we rode down to the Stokes Eye Clinic to have her glasses fixed.  She had wire frames, and one of the side arms was broken off.  That visit only took a few minutes, and we were on our way again....back to Bennettsville.

When we got back to town, we ate a quick lunch at our favorite little restaurant Sub Depot, and then she filled up my car with gas!!  I sure appreciated it (since gas now costs more than gold!) but certainly didn't expect it.

Throughout our time together today, we had pleasant conversation with each other and enjoyed each other's company.  It was really nice to spend time with her.
Love you Beulah!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Well, Spring Break 2011 has come to an end....it's back to school.  I was really glad to see all of my students this morning when I came in.  Don't get me wrong, we are all counting down until the end, but it's good to have a job!

The softball game on Saturday against Darlington was INTENSE!!  From the beginning I knew it was going to be a 1-0 game...and it was!  Too bad the Lady Dawgs ended up with the zero!
Then next game is this evening at 7:00 against Cane Bay.  Go Bulldogs!!

And while we're on the subject of sports....
Charles left school early today to travel with the MCHS golf team for their first region match in Hartsville.  Good luck Charles!  Do your best!!

We finally got the opportunity to go to the theater to see Water for Elephants.  Since Chuck knew that I'd just finished the book, he kept asking me questions throughout the movie, wanting a comparison between the novel and movie.  I thought that the movie followed the book pretty accurately, and all in all, I was pleased.  Oh, and thanks, Chuck, for the respite from the real world....I enjoyed those two hours of "circus life!"

Last, but certainly not least....thanks to the US soldiers who finally rid the world of a horrific terrorist.  Osama Bin Laden is dead.

Be sure to go link up with Carissa....I did!
