Friday Fill-Ins

Friday Fill-Ins
TGIF y'all!
I'm so glad it is Friday...I don't think I could have made it another day!
Go to Friday Fill-Ins and join the fun!

And...here we go!

1. For me, it was   the dark hair....and tan...

2.   I spend way too much money   at my local supermarket.

3. Behind the sound of the wind in the trees, I heard  dogs barking  .

4.  Just getting in the car and driving off with no destination    is something I always wanted to do.

5. When it was over,   I felt I had learned what I wanted and what I didn't want in life   .

6.   I was very sad when my mama died   but I never felt alone.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to  the softball game in Hartsville (GO LADY DOGS!!) , tomorrow my plans include   going to Columbia for the state tractor driving competition and hopefully to see Deanna play sb at Columbia College    and Sunday, I want to  go to Sunday school and church, and then just take it easy  !

Fill in the Blank Friday

1.   My favorite daily responsibility is,       teaching my students....I love my classes, my school, my career... .

2.  My least favorite daily responsibility is,    cleaning, emptying the dishwasher, and folding laundry....   .

3.  My favorite cuisine to eat when going out is    Mexican....I love Chili's and a little local Mexican restaurant, Fiesta Tapita....delish!!

4.  My favorite cuisine to prepare at home is     down-home Southern...chicken, rice and gravy, butterbeans, corn, cole slaw, and sweet tea.....

5.  Andy Warhol said that everyone is famous for 15 minutes. My claim to fame is     being the mama to my three outstanding, athletic, outgoing, well-rounded children.  I love them so much.  They are my reason for being....

6.  If I could have 3 wishes I would wish      for my children to be happy, healthy, and successful, that I'd never have to worry about finances, and that my great-nephew Law would be healed....

7.  My biggest pet peeve is       ...the sound of people chewing ice cubes!

Thursday 13 - Thoughts Between 12:15 and 2:15 AM

Thirteen Things I Thought About Between 12:15 & 2:15 AM

[one]
He's dead....just dead.

[two]
He has drowned in the pond.

[three]
He wrecked into a ditch on the way home.

[four]
The truck broke down and he is stranded.

[five]
He got drunk while fishing.

[six]
Someone slipped him drugs, or worse.....maybe he used drugs voluntarily.

[seven]
He has been arrested for trespassing.

[eight]
He is spending the night at Robert's house.

[nine]
He fell asleep while driving home and crashed into a tree or into an oncoming vehicle.

[ten]
He fell asleep in the truck in the driveway.

[eleven]
He lost track of time.

[twelve]
Someone came out of the woods and murdered Robert and him.

[thirteen]
He is in the hospital emergency room and is so mangled that no one recognizes him, and he has no ID on him.

Now, here's what I was all stressed out about....

Charles wanted to go catfishing in Clio around 8:30 last night.  I said OK, but Chuck was a little hesitant.  Chuck finally decided to let him go, but told him he had to be home by 10:30 or so.  All agreed, and off Charles went.

Well, Chuck and I went to bed and eventually fell asleep.  At 12:15 AM, Chuck got up to go to the bathroom, and when he came back to bed, he told me that Charles was not at home.  I got out of bed immediately and went down to the kitchen and started calling and texting his cell phone every 15 minutes.  I was calling and texting Robert's cell too, and both went imediately to voicemails every time.

Panic set in.

My messages went from, "Where are you??  You better get home now!  Call me!  I'm mad because you're not home and it's so late!" to, "Oh honey, call your mama.  Are you OK?  Where are you baby?  Mama loves you....just come home please."   If he was hurt or dead, I didn't want the last messages on his phone to be harsh...

I wrung my hands, prayed, imagined, worried, and prayed some more.

Around 2:15, MJ woke up and asked me why I was sitting in the kitchen alone.  I told her that Charles was not at home and I was waiting for him.  She told me that she thought that he was in his room asleep.  I stood up from the table and peeked out the door...the truck was parked in the driveway.
I grabbed a small flashlight and tiptoed down the hall, eased open Charles' bedroom door and shined the light in his room and saw.......
him asleep in his bed!

I went back to bed and told Chuck that Charles had been in bed the whole time!  All Chuck said was, "Oh...I didn't turn on the light in his room, so I didn't see him..."

[sigh]....Men....

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hooray for
What I'm Loving Wednesday!
Go link up with Jamie and join us.

(Truthfully, I'm not a happy camper today, so maybe taking this time to think about all of the blessings in my life will change my mood....)

I'm loving the fact that it is WEDNESDAY and that means it is one day closer to the weekend.  This has been a long week so far.

I'm loving that we have two days of HSAP testing behind us here at the high school...only one more day to go!!
I'm loving my wonderful teacher's assistant Mrs. Suggs.  I really hit the jackpot when I moved to MCHS and met her.  She's the best!

I'm loving that the DNR refilled Lake Paul Wallace.  It has been very depressing to see the empty lake every time I drove down the street.
I'm loving these four sweeties....
Ricky Bobby, Spanky, and Lemon
Pippi

And, of course, I'm loving my children...

and my sweet, hard-working husband!

The Queen's Meme #78

Welcome to The Queen's Meme #78
7 Royal Questions on Tuesday...
(ummm, I'm late...it's Wednesday....)

Today we are discussing the wonders of Spring.   But it's not all about blooming flowers and Easter cards this time. Just a simple play on words with a twisted smack of alliteration and snark thrown in. You know, the usual. Now do me a favor and add your smack to the smack.
K?

1. What about spring ticks you off the most?  Yellow pine pollen all over EVERYTHING!!

2.  How many blooming idiots have you met lately?  Several, but one in particular....a very high paid individual who has a lot of power over many employees (with me being one of them)...

3. If spring springs early when you're in the middle of a spring fling, does that mean you must flung 'em out of your life early or can it wait until summer comes?  Huh??
4. If you could toss one thing or person out the window during your annual spring cleaning, who would it be?  I would toss out all of the clutter in my laundry room...it would have to be a big, giant window though....

5. Do you have seasonal defective disorder?  No, I'm demented and defective for the duration of the year.... :)
6.   If you left the windows open on a cool spring night, what would the neighbors see?  They would see me reading and then sleeping beside my wonderful, snoring husband....

7.  Name your most potent allergens during this season of (achoo!) bliss.  Grass and weeds...and my allergy meds seem to have quit working!!  Boo... :(

Blogging Thru the Alphabet - G

Every day or so (it's been a while, I know), I’m going to blog about things, people, ideas, concepts, places, etc. that start with a different letter of the alphabet. The letter for today is G….

Gayle - Gayle is my sister-in-law, married to my oldest bother Larry.  I've known her all of my life, or at least all of my life that I can remember.  She is the most gentle , kind hearted, loving soul that I know.  She is a wonderful wife (she'd have to be to be married to my brother for almost 43 years!), a caring mother, and a selfless grandmother to her 4 grandchildren.  The world is truly a better place because of her!  I love you Gayle...
Gayle Davis

Green - my favorite color.  Go "here" to see all things green that I love!!

Grits - I know that grits are a southern food and some people say that they don't like them, but my  questions is...what's not to like??  Warm, buttery, soothing and comforting...the perfect food!

Giraffes - I've always liked giraffes.  I remember when I was a teenager, my mama bought me a tiny porcelain giraffe, probably about 3 inches tall.  It was so delicate and sweet.  Also, when the kids were about 3 and 5 years old, we took them to Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia for a class/workshop called "Gigantic Giraffes."  After classroom activities, we had the opportunity to walk down to the giraffe barn to see where the giraffes stayed when they were on display.  It was a great experience for the kids....and me!

God - Where would I be without Him?  He is my rock and redeemer.  Thank you God for Your unconditional love and Your saving grace.  None of us deserve Your mercy, but thank You for bestowing it upon us anyway.
